  Hi.

I had the opportunity to test Ubuntu 10.04 on two laptop this weekend
and would just like to comment on that.

First was the Acer Aspire 5551

Everything worked...wonderfully, laptops "FN" hot-keys and wi-fi worked
great, did a very quick ad-hoc connection with my wife's Win 7 machine,
and could emediatly browse everything on her system. The Lan connection
also worked great.

Now for boot time it was extremely quick. just over ten seconds, on my
internal stop watch maybe a bit faster, its well worth it to switch of
between uses and you can still help a client on your system in the time
most screens warm-up.

Second a Packard bell dots

Ubuntu install is very usable, fast for the Atom N450 processor in the
system and boot up in about 20 seconds on battery, battery life was
about 6 hours while updating the OS and having the kids play afterwards...

What did not work is the FN Hot-keys, I still have to research that and
will report back, the Bluetooth in the system is version 3, I still have
to find out if I can activate that before I can report on it, In the Win
7 system have a app to switch it on when using the wi-fi hot-key.

Any ideas on the Packard bell system would be nice, I'll be using that
as my communication and programming system, after setting everything up.
