[ubuntu-za] A Local forum

Hi, in response to this: Is this other content really so off-topic that
we need a separate forum? Is there really enough of such content to
justify it? I've seen the window-wiper-motor post that started this
thread, and that's basically it..

I was thinking more along the lines of expanding the community. Have a
look at something like thehubsa.co.za.

It's a cycling website, but the community that grows out of a bunch of
like minded people discussing all sorts of issues is what I find
beneficial. You don't get that off a mailing list.

Which is kinda why I started this topic. But the overwhelming feeling is
that "we are ubuntu geeks and do not want to discuss anything else
really with other ubuntu geeks."

Ok, I get that, no harm in asking though.

Jason

I for one would be interested in reading about hacking all sorts
of weird devices, including motors, and wotnot; some running
ubuntu, some other distros, or some maybe firmware based chip
        programming, or whatever.
Some of the stuff that would actually be relevant in this list
will go there, and we'll miss out.

If it does happen, it should perhaps be integrated into
the mailing-list system where one can post by replying (negating
the need for a separate forum); or else, it should go somewhere
else entirely - perhaps gumtree ;-)

Isn't it simply just much easier to use an existing forum (whether local
or international) that already has these kind of topic?

And then, if anyone on this list absolutely, and most definitely, want
to share something posted on one of those forums to the list and it has
some Ubuntu resemblance then surely he could post a link & maybe some
info on the link here?
