[ubuntu-za] Mail between two versions of Thunderbird

Hi all.
For the people struggling with migrating their emails between
accounts, or computers / OS'es (e.g. windows to-> linux/ubuntu): Like
others here have said, it really is a matter of copying the folder
contents of the old location to the new one.
TIP: as long as you don't delete the old stuff you can try again and
again until you get it right. So don't be scared to experiment;
sometimes that's just the best approach.
"Fear" is 4/7ths of "failure" (haha, I just came up with that >.<)
CAVEATS:
- Sometimes one system may use a different thunderbird foldername as
the other, I've seen that on different linux distro's; so look out for
that.
- Also know that when you start Thunderbird up before having copied
the mails to the correct location, it will initialize a new account,
after which it becomes very difficult to migrate (though I have done
that before too) - if that's the case, delete the newly initialized
profile, and start again.
I don't currently use any offline mailers, but if I remember
correctly, if you do it right TB will start up and recognize all your
previous mails, spam-filter training, mail-rules, addressbooks, etc.;
as if you were still working on the old system.
Good luck to all.
