[ubuntu-za] System won't shut down

Hello Bill (am I talking to the username or the real person now?)

What happens when you type 'sudo halt' in terminal (without quotes)?

My guess is you must have somewhere removed your privelege as normal user to
shut the system down or something... I can't think of any other possible
cause.
