For what it's worth,I'd go with the Thinkpad.I have two running Ubuntu,
and they work great out the box with Ubuntu. I find them pretty good
value for money as well.

        I know this question is asked a lot, but the technology changes
        so fast that old answers are made obsolete.
        
        
        I want to know if any one of you own one of the following
        notebooks, and if it works seamlessly with Ubuntu.
        
        
        The two on my shortlist at this stage, with advantages in
        brackets:
        *Lennovo ThinkPad Edge 14 (it's a ThinkPad)
        *HP Mini G550 (multitouch, GREAT for ubuntu netbook?)
        
        
        My budget is R6 - 7k, so if one of you have a better option for
        me, do not hesitate!
