[ubuntu-za] Dead screen when using Unison

Hi List

I am using Unison over an ad-hoc crossover cable to sync my music from my
desktop PC to my ThinkPad x100e.
I'm running an up-to-date 10.04 with a 2.6.35-22 kernel (10.10's kernel).
Under power settings i have the option to turn the screen off after 10
minutes, and the screensaver is a blank screen coming in after 1 minute,
when the netbook is plugged in.
I have installed laptop-mode-tools in the attempt to squeeze more power from
my tiny 3 cell battery.

The music file is quite large, so it takes a few hours to sync. When I leave
the machine unattended and allow the screen to turn off, it stays off. No
button or anything makes it turn on again. It has either to do with Unison
or the Ethernet cable, as in other situations it works fine.

Any ideas of where to start looking for the problem?

Thanks!
