[ubuntu-za] Not shutting down normally, need terminal or manual switch off

Thanks Robin, this works fine. It also confirms my allegation or 
accusation that Ubuntu generates its own unique virus-like culture where 
one application disables another in an utterly confusing (perhaps to the 
uninitiated user) array of conflicts.

It is frustrating for a user who has other priorities than to play 
around with computer systems.
