It was an 8.10 alt. Installed OK. Although, a weird thing, it complained
that it couldn't find the cd-rom, this despite the fact that I was using
a brand new DVD writer thats supposed to be able to read everything from
Egyptian biblical tablets to just below blu-ray.I then got out an old cd
writer & presto it installed.I then dug out my original 10.04 which was
burnt to a cd & it installed as well.Go figure.
The confusing thing is that I've used the DVD writer successfully up to
now?
Debian 6 also complained of not finding the cd-rom, but this is on a DVD
& the cd writer can't read it, so maybe I'll just have to wonder what
Debian is about & stay with ubuntu.Oh well.
Lee, thanks so much for all your patience & help. Really appreciated.
Vincent
