Hi Shawn

Fake sites trick users into installing fake anti-virus protection, by
making it seem like your PC is infected.

These warning messages you see are fake, nothing more than web browser
pop-ups that are made to look legit.

These get users to click their "get protection" links, at which point
the PC really *does* get infected (if a Windows box).

You didn't run those exe's, did you Christoff? Do you have WINE
installed? If so your WINE environment may be infected.

Whatever sites you visit that show these pop-ups, I suggest you avoid them.

Consider the NoScript Firefox addon and only whitelist javascript and
popups on sites that you know.

See "10.1. Wine is malware-compatible"for more hints:
http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-3cb8f054b33a63be30f98a1b6225d74e305a0459
(contains links on ClamAV in Ubuntu etc)

Regards
