Some great points there Daniël, yes very good. Agreed how it may not
be for desktops, not for mine anyway. For my HTPC, controlling via IR
remote... perhaps!

We don't have to conform to the whims of a distro superpower, enough
voices will carry, needs will be met, sooner or later. Unity sounds
pretty new still, I'm sure there will be plenty of good, and bad,
opinions, over time it should level out.

I'm sure Unity's customization will better as people ask for it, I'm
function over form, and I don't see customization as the end-all. It
must be intuitive, and behave like you expect. To this end, for
smaller devices like Netbooks, I honestly believe user experience
should revolve around the keyboard, and not the touch pad. Those
things frustrate and waste time, and presenting a user interface that
encourages their use is beyond me.

Just my opinion, I don't expect it to be the norm, but think more
people will be happier, if this was the case :-)

I see: People who can, will change to a shell of their choice. Others
will learn how to, and build their knowledge.
For the rest: Hope a choice is given during setup, as Lee says. Or a
choice of shell at login.

I also imagine a bunch of Ubunters, recent newbies, who may take the
next step and decide this is a push they needed to try other distros.
I'm not saying they will leave Ubuntu, but just start exploring other
distros. This is a good thing, to build knowledge.

Think I should spend some time with Unity.
Good thread :-)
