just rebooted my net book, shut down 11 seconds
boot up 57 seconds, it's almost double 10.04 but not too bad as I'm
running on batteries ATM

You may also want to consider that this is essentially a beta product
(being a short term support version)
it should be stable and running great in about a month...or two after
there was more bugreports submitted and fixes done,
try the next steps
on boot go into the grub menu i think you hold the shift key, if it
doesn't display,
press "e" to edit your *default* ubuntu boot setting scroll down and
remove the *"quiet splash"* boot options then pres "F10" to boot, this
should give you an idea where the time delay take place. you can then
take a look at your log files to see if there are any errors for that
part of the boot.

My laptop for some reason did seem to boot faster with this settings.

When working on a computer you have to know enough:
To fake what you don't know.
  Google what you can't fake.
How (and when) to 'motivate' the computer to do what Google won't tell.
