Hi Bruce
I had a problem I ran the following:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
I saw which list was duplicated and commented out in my sources.list
look to see if there are any error messages that get displayed
sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
the error went away
Kind regards
Nico Michael
