I find most often that it is not the printing that is the problem. 
Even printers like Kyocera Mita is supported in Linux.  Even if its not
in the normal drivers list, you'll find a place to download the
necessary PPD files.

The biggest problem especially with all-in-one printers is the
scanner!!  SANE is not quite as well supported as CUPS.  So I would
suggest checking this list before buying an all-in-one printer:
