Can you see how red my ears are from there?

I am extremely embarrassed. I had my computer at the doctor just
before my upgrade (CD problem). When I connected it up again, I did
not connect the loudspeaker correctly! No wonder I had no sound. Right
now I am listening to "Africa calling" with no problems. I suppose
that I half expected it not to work after the problems that I had with
8.04 and 10.04.

But I think that your input was invaluable. After you wrote that I
should check on my sound settings, I thought that I had better check
on my hardware too.
