[ubuntu-za] System freezes with new install 12.04

Hi, I had to install a new hard drive and installed 12.04. The system 
works well in the boot 'test'drive. When I install 12.04 however, the 
system works until a note comes up, saying that additional 
language-packs need to be installed. Once the note appears, the system 
freezes solid.  Any advice?
