[ubuntu-za] A new Laptop for Ubuntu without Windows...

Hi,

I am trying to purchase a laptop/netbook (lightweight) that will run
the latest Ubuntu. 

However I cannot find a single laptop without Windows 7 or Windows 8
pre-loaded.  I have been using only Ubuntu since 2004 and have never
looked back on that decision.  

I am now at the point where I refuse to pay the Microsoft tax on new
computer hardware. 

In the USA you can indeed purchase a Dell Vostro without Windows,
saving about $59 in the process.  However that option is not
available in South Africa - I tried without success.

Any suggestions?

Under the new consumer act it is of course illegal to make the
purchase of one product dependent on the purchase of another product.
However every supplier of computer hardware in South Africa enforce
the purchase of Windows with their computer hardware.
