[ubuntu-za] Genius Webcam on 12.10

Hi there, I have been battling with this issue since upgrading to Ubuntu 
12.10 some months ago. My Genius GE111 Webcam was working fine on 12.04 
and is working on Cheese, but is dead on Skype.

I have been around the forums, where the closest I could get was to 
stimulate an argument about whether this is a new issue. None of the 
references to previous solutions given to me were applicable but this 
query is now ignored on the forums, so are there any suggestions as to 
where I should go from here?
