Hi Guys
Recently I've had significant issues with Gwibber on Ubuntu 12.04
a. Initially it was authentication on Facebook, it didn't work at all,
then it worked, although it indicated that it didn't. This is still an
open bug.
b. I often saw my CPU usage go up inexplicably and remain high for long
periods of time. I found that it was gwibber-service and when I stopped
the process things returned to normal.
c. Lately my harddrive usage started to do the same. Along with it my
entire system performance went done significatly. Using iotop, I found
it was gwibber-service... again.
Out of frustration I purged gwibber-service from my system, seemingly
restoring my system performance. Yeah!
So my question is, what's the real purpose of gwibber-service? I still
have my little envelope on the task bar and chat still works. So it
seems its just Facebook and Twitter notifications that are gone. If
that's its only purpose that I'm the better for it (not being much of
social networking fan). Is there some other important function that it
perform that might be important?
Regards
Charl
