[ubuntu-za] trying to create a working git repository in my Ubuntu Linux

Hi Nico,

But isn't that correct? The git repo is contained in a hidden .git
folder in the folder of stuff you told git to version control eg folder
myproject. ie the actual repo is myproject/.git not myproject.git

Have you worked through a tutorial yet? eg
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/315911/git-for-beginners-the-definitive-practical-guide/816614
