Thanz for the responses when I had been in dispair with the wifi issues
1st off - Its working
2nd I dont know why :-( BUT its working :-)
something helped
I rebooted, tried wiping everything again in the network manager and
using another USB port, plugged the wifi dongle in along with
Christiaan's advice.
Network M found the router name and after asking the password, logged on
immediately.
I did type in smedg in terminal and have the response - but its not
needed now
