Hi,

Please join us for our next monthly #ubuntu-za meeting at 20:30 this
evening, 24 February 2015.

Agenda: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ZATeam/Meetings/20150224

Feel free to edit and add more items for discussion.

I'm sure others will agree when I say it has been a very interesting month.

Herewith some quick feedback from my side about what we did and to get
you thinking about other ideas so we don't have to explain the details
in the meeting about everything again to those who have not been part
of the process. Should perhaps have sent this earlier but it was yet
another busy day at the office, so here goes.

On 31 January Raoul introduced us to Trello (https://trello.com/), a
free web-based project management application that he and his team of
developers have been using succesfully for the OpenLP project. Thanks
Raoul.

Projects are represented by boards containing lists of cards with
issues or tasks. Cards are supposed to progress from one list to the
next (via drag-and-drop), mirroring the flow of a feature from idea to
implementation. Cards can contain lot's of details with many useful
properties like comments, attachments, votes, due dates, checklists
and more.

As mentioned by Raoul back then, Trello is nice because it doesn't
dictate a specific workflow. Unfortunately it is not open source but
operates on a freemium business model. Trello might not be perfect but
with the members who have joined I believe we have become more
effective in managing some of the tasks that we have done already. If
at any point you are aware or if you become aware of a better
free/libre open source alternative please let us know. So much for
some free marketing.

Please note that our board is set to be visible to anyone with the
link and it will apparently also show up in search engines like
Google. Only people added to the board can edit.

Subscribe to Trello if you haven't done so already, then send us your
username so we can add you to our board, or come talk to us on IRC
(Freenode) at #ubuntu-za or discuss here on the mailing list. Members
are allowed to add and invite others.

Having said that, what have we actually done for the past month? Some
notable tasks from our archives:

- effective use of bzr for distributed version control to manage
content, features and building of our new website with Nikola for
generating the static pages,
- launch of the new site: https://ubuntu-za.org/,
- New Official Ubuntu Memberships: Raoul and Miles,
- Miles reaching out to Ubuntu users in Africa,
- a wiki page to list our active members:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ZATeam/Members,
- other tasks still outstanding on the board...

If you know about more please highlight it in the meeting or simply
add it yourself here:

Thank you to everyone involved for getting us up to speed again and
let us keep it going!

Regards,
Gustav H Meyer
