[ubuntu-za] Suspend problems

Hi everybody, some advice please.

After installing Ubuntu 14.04 32-bit on my desktop, everything worked 
fine up to a point recently when the suspend facility started failing.

Previously all audible drives and fans used to shut down, now it seems 
like only the screen goes blank but everything else keeps running, 
however, when I try to wake the system from suspend by pressing the 
power button, nothing happens. The only way I can get the machine up and 
running again is to power off and restart.

Incidentally, after restarting a window shows a system error and error 
report, but I have never received any feedback whatsoever on these error 
reports - wonder of anybody ever attends to them?

I will appreciate any advice on how to get my suspend facility to 
function correctly once more.
