Agreed - the screen copy looks a lot like what I was experiencing with a
new WD (normal) disk. However, the problem in my case was not actually
failure but some bug in the internal power management. The disk was
going to sleep during the post period and not waking up in time. There
is a jumper at the back of the drive which enables/disables power
management and which I normally had to remove but in this case
installing it helped. Sorry that I can't be more specific, don't really
know that much about it. In the end, I had to boot off another drive
which gave the WD enough time to wake up and come on-line.
