As a Debian Maintainer, I highly recommend getting your package into 
Debian itself. It's not actually that difficult. The up side to this is 
that your package will be automatically included in Debian derivatives 
like Ubuntu and Linux Mint. The "down" side (and it's not really a down 
side) is that you'll need to make it comply with the DFSG.
