Using Unity also doesn't work??
Wow this is really bad on an LTS release, especially a year after release.
Suggestions are to install a different file manager, or per the askubuntu
link install a different desktop icon manager.
I have been dying to get back on Ubuntu since I bought this laptop, but
issues like this makes me think of maybe going to Mint again.
