Perhaps you could add a simple undo on the server which just undoes
the last action performed by anybody, and goes back a few actions.   I
understand that full undo is complex in this situation, but it is very
easy to loose all your work if somebody accidentally highlights
everything and types a single letter.

This is a serious usability problem.
