Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
My Dell Latitude C400 uses an Intel i830M chipset. The display is
configured at 1024x768, 60 Hz, 24-bit -- however, when I look at any
kind of gradient, I see "banding" instead of a smooth transition between
colors. I think this is because this graphics card does not support true
24-bit color, but 18-bit with dithering -- but I don't think the driver
is enabling dithering for my chipset, and there is no way to force it in
xorg.conf (unlike the driver for some other chips).
xserver-xorg-video-intel:
Installed: 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10
** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
