[Bug 305912] [NEW] seems to gnome and xclient be crashed

I start installing Ubuntu 6.06.1 alternate-386 cause im using a legacy
machine, then i upgrade it to 8.04 in order to get the upgrading stuff,
i think. The i run the U-lite script. It worked with ease, a day. But i
realized that some programs werent okay, like PCman. I couldnt open it.
SO HERES THE DEAL, i found my self clicking the add and remove buttons
at the top panel and suddenly al was gone. Either the aplications panel
and the bottom one. So thinkin as a windower all will be ok  after
rebooting. The log in appears as U-lite the blue background but when im
in all changes to the ubuntu 8.04 desktop... an also TADA both bars
still mising.

I run  terminal  and hit few commands i found on web

the bars appeared but if I close the Terminal window theyre gone again

Actually I tried to change several times the the profiles in the log on
menu... trying to run as xclient but still loading the ubuntu desktop...

Maybe you guys can give me any other advise before I reinstall ubuntu...
