The crash without 'drkonqi' looks like this:

duncan at media-machine:~$ kdenlive
kbuildsycoca running...
Reusing existing ksycoca
KCrash: Application 'kdenlive' crashing...
Could not find 'drkonqi' executable.
KCrash cannot reach kdeinit, launching directly.
duncan at media-machine:~$ 

(there are some other problems there as well)
