This has been fixed in the latest autosync from Debian:
cowsay (3.03-9.2) unstable; urgency=low
* NMU to fix breakages introduced with last NMU.
* Make duck.cow work with unstable version
(Closes: #480404, #480405, #452816)
* Added some long standing cow files:
- gnu.cow and suse.cow (Closes: #367310)
- calvin.cow and cock.cow (Closes: #404287)
* filters lowered to suggests, there is no special functionality that would
require filters, it's just a nice-to-have.
* Some changes missing from the former NMU entry: Small fixes in the manual
page, Standards-Version bumped to 3.7.3.
* Actually bump Standards-Version to 3.8.0.
* Fixed watch file to make it watch again.
