Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

I have already filed bug 307888 for vte, convinced (without good
evidence) that it can't be anywhere else. Today I've seen something
that suggests I could be wrong about vte, and now I have no clue whose
bug this is.

Immediately after upgrade to Intrepid, my TerminalScreenlet.py became
useless because it stopped composing my Ctrl-keys correctly. It composes
them is if I didn't choose Dvorak in System -> Preferences -> Keyboard.
The only access to keyboard in Terminal Screenlet is through vte, which
sent me on the wrong path -- possibly.

Now I see that the Regex Matching plugin in compiz does the same thing,
but with the unmodified keys. I type "g", but it displays a "u". Could
this and the Ctrl-key bug I'm seeing in Terminal Screenlet be related in
any way?

compiz:
  Installed: 1:0.7.8-0ubuntu4.1
 *** 1:0.7.8-0ubuntu4.1 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid-updates/main Packages

** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Tags: compiz intrepid keyboard layout matching non-us regex screenlet termina window
