Public bug reported:
I have an ati rv100, a quite old graphic card. Nevertheless, I was using it fine with compiz in ubuntu hardy, provided two specific options in xorg.conf :
- the first one to make compiz start successfully :
Option "GARTSize" "64"in Section "Device"
-the second one to make it fast enough for a daily use :
DefaultDepth 16 in Section "Screen"
Now that I have upgraded to ubuntu intrepid, compiz starts even if I
comment out the first option ("GARTSize"), which is fine, but the
problem is that I have no window decoration unless I comment out the
second one to use the default depth, 24 bpp.
I tried a mix of options, I tried enabling EXA but got no success, so I
guess it's a bug from compiz or its decorator, or maybe from the ati
driver.
So, to sum up : I have no window decoration when compiz is enabled and
the color depth is 16 bpp. This is a regression. 16 bpp is necessary for
my hardware to get compiz fast enough.
** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
