I suggest 2 things to you:

* If you have compiz enabled then disable it.  Some of the video APIs
(xv, xshm, opengl) have issues drawing to a compiz enabled screen
depending on your video driver.  I recommend "xshm" to get started.

* Try switching the video driver in the Me TV preferences dialog.  You
might find that you can get one to work with compiz (if enabled).
