Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gcc-4.2
When trying to install libc6-dev-i386 on a machine with Ubuntu 8.04,
arch AMD64, package lib32gomp1 got marked automatically for installation
to resolve dependencies.
Installation of all packages failed due to an apparently read-only
mounted file system. After restarting the machine Ubuntu found
inconsistencies on both partitions of the disk: the root (/dev/sda4)
and at home (/dev/sda6)
Had to run fsck manually (with options -fy) on both of them to repair
the file system. After restarting again the broken package (lib32gomp1)
was reported by aptitude. From then on it was impossible to either
install it or purge it.
