Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

Hello! I'm running up-to-date Jaunty on a machine with a GeForce 9600 GT
video card. I'm currently using nvidia-glx-180 version 180.44-0ubuntu1,
however the problem described below has been occurring for a while.

Whenever a transparent* window is displayed, the transparent part shows
annoying artifacts. (See the attached screenshot.) I'm using Gaussian
blur, but this happens with all blur modes; the exact appearance of the
artifacts is changed by the blur type, however. I'm also attaching my
ccsm profile, in case there's something specific to my configuration.

The artifacts are not fixed. Some operations make them go away, for
example dragging the window. Others make them appear or move, e.g.
dragging another nearby window. The artifacts' shapes seem related to
the contours of windows or other elements inside windows. (However, I
get this almost always with new windows on empty screens, too.) This is
most easily seen with the bilinear blur filter; I think the others blur
the artifacts...

** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
