I'm confused about https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-
xorg-video-intel/+bug/109934/comments/13 where you mention a hardware
fix.  This does not appear to be the case on the Dell Inspiron E1505 I
have.  This is one of the models that came with Ubuntu pre-installed.
It currently has 8.10 installed.
