happens in Ubuntu Jaunty (beta, Description:    Ubuntu 9.04 Release:
9.04)

kern.log shows this:

Apr 15 09:32:20 bat kernel: [109670.397912] audacity[25462]: segfault at 3bb9000c ip b71d39e0 sp bfc19584 error 4 in libpthread-2.9.so[b71cc000+15000]

Restoring the previously saved .aup file shows large gaps -> corrupted.
