[Bug 361737] [NEW] Some apps erratic with CUPS in 8.10

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xpdf

Some applications, such as Lyx and xpdf do not automatically select the
default printer if that printer is served by a remote CUPS server, and
then, if the printer is manually selected, the print job does not always
make it onto the queue.  Printing works most reliably when the view-
print-queue window is open.  Other applications, such as Acrobat Reader
and Firefox, seem to behave.  This is happening on a system with Ubuntu
8.10 with Gnome 2.24.1, with all updates as of today, Wed 15 April 2009.
Just thought you'd like to know.
