You can find out what each of the packages are by reading the package
descriptions. In general, *-dev packages contain header files to allow
you to build applications against them, *-dbg packages contain debug
symbols for GDB and *-doc packages contain documentation.

This is more of a support request than a bug report, so I'm closing it.
Also, you should open one bug report for each separate issue. Don't
discuss multiple issues on one bug report. For the idle issue, you
should open a separate bug report.
