Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Kubuntu jaunty (stable)
Release: 9.04
Codename: jaunty

Similar bug description and system behavior to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/343362

The laptop is a Packard Bell Easynote E5,
with "00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02)"

The xserver-xorg-video-intel packages from kubuntu-jaunty , make X
freeze with every symptom described in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze , needing almost always
a hard reset (no remote services are available or kernel reboot is
unresponsive).

----
After adding in xorg.conf the line

        Option "EXAOptimizeMigration" "off"

and having installed the packages indicated in
https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-freeze-test

linux-image-2.6.30-020630rc2-generic_2.6.30-020630rc2_i386.deb
intel-gpu-tools - 1.0-0ubuntu1
libdrm - 2.4.9-1build1

the system freezes again but now is accessible with ssh, so it's
possible to report the bug.
