Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
On a 15.4" laptop with an intel graphics chip (Intel Corporation Mobile
GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller) I used to be able to play 3D
games such as Halo2, Fable2, SoF4 etc at low-to-medium GFX settings with
no problems. I also could make use of visualization apps like ProjectM
at good framerates.
Now, on 8.10 Intrepid Ibex (standard ubuntu/Gnome version) I seemt o have the same screen resolution (1280x800) but it definately LOOKS like it's lower in resolution. Compiz runs fine, with effects like 3D Cube Rotation etc.
I cannot run ProjectM, the window opens for a brief moment and closes again, as do games like TileRacer and World of Padman - which, let's face it, less graphically demanding than Fable2.
This is my very first bug report, so please help me improve the quality
of my contributions by telling what I am doing right, and what i am
doing wrong. also if any additional information is required, I will
supply it ASAP.
** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
