Public bug reported:
Kubuntu 9.04 on Lenovo T61
wayne at Wayne-laptop:~$ uname -a
Linux Wayne-laptop 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
wayne at Wayne-laptop:~$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 0c)
Because a lot bugs in Intel's video driver, I use the fresh from
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa
With UXA enabled, Compiz works well for me.
I usually use an external monitor via the VGA interface in office. The krandrtray is a convenient tool for display switching.
As shown in the attached, I disabled the LVDS and in the meanwhile enabled the VGA. I found the compiz effects were always missing after the switch.
But if I do it in two steps, the compiz is there. The 1st step is to enable the VGA, and the 2nd step is to disable the LVDS.
BTW occasionally the X crashed on switch.
** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
