[Bug 369391] [NEW] only one desktop available

Binary package hint: edubuntu-docs

I don't know if this is specific to edubuntu but that is the one I use
and since upgrading to 9.04, I can only access one desktop (the top
panel doesn't come up on any other desktop), my desktop effects no
longer work, and the NVDIA graphics info that comes up is unintelligible
to me.  I am not a tech and don't understand what all the options are
referring to.  I would appreciate any possible help you can give me.
