I have the same problem. This seems to be some glitch in 2.6.24-24. The
nvidia module fails to load. My solution is to back up to 2.6.24-23,
which works fine for my nvidia card, a  GeForce 7300 LE.

I consider this a bug. I wonder if anyone is paying attention.
