Upgrading to 0.7 via the github source from http://github.com/jkramer/shell-fm/ fixed the problem for me.  I found that at least afterwards, I was still getting ALSA underruns due to a poor connection.  But when I quit, I got no glibc errors, and instead got a "Stream timed out" error.  In installing from source, I also installed the prerequisites, namely:
