[Bug 495772] [NEW] Unable to compile package acquired through apt-get source

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pearpc

Under 9.04 I was able to compile PearPC (after using apt-get source
pearpc; compiled with dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc), but it crashed at
runtime. Under 9.10, I am unable to compile it, even if I don't change
debian/rules or anything else.

g++ complains several times about "error: invalid conversion from ‘const
char*’ to ‘char*’", which causes it to fail.

I'm assuming the invalid cast errors are caused by a different version
of gcc or different options, but I believe that the source package
should be compilable right out of the box.
