~/.pdrc is officially deprecated in Pd, but not likely to go anywhere.
There is a preference for realtime, also there is the possibility of
embedding a preferences file, so -rt could easily be included, then it
would be overidden by anyone saving their own preferences.  -rt is
preferred when working with audio, from what I have seen, but can cause
problems when doing heavy Gem/video work.
