I have the exact same issue, except I am running it on a 2.26GHz + 4GB
RAM machine (Kubuntu 9.10). The only thing I can think it to be is the
fact that the file I am trying to play is 1.7GB. However I also tried it
with a ~500MB file and still got some jitter / freezing. I love the
software, but if I can't use it properly, then I may have to move on :(.
I can also confirm that changing the desktop effects makes no
difference. Maybe it's one of the dependencies not behaving right, I'm
not sure. Kdenlive appears to have a lot of bugs when I Google it, but
this is the first bug Ive come across that actually addresses my exact
problem. Lastly, I have also had the same issue when using Ubuntu 9.10
with Gnome.
