Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xclip

Intrepid and Jaunty currently use xclip 0.8. This version does not
support unicode strings, and cannot read or write them properly. For
example, selecting the Hebrew word יש and issuing a "$ xclip -o" command
yields the output "u05d9u05e9".

The upstream version, 0.11, supports unicode strings and passes them
flawlessly. This has its uses, for example, in translation software.

I ask for the inclusion of a current version of xclip in Jaunty, and, if
possible, to backport it to Intrepid too.

** Affects: xclip (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
