[Bug 329088] [NEW] PyChess wacky play on beginner level

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pychess

Played for first time, choose beginner level, default settings.  After
several moves (engine was Black), it never made a move, clock counted
down to 0 and started going negative...

I attach screenshot.

I have 2nd screenshot on different issue clicking to online play portion
and the app just sort of blanked out and did nothing

Xubunto 8.10, via std add/remove menu to install...plenty of memory
(1.5Gb available) and drive space (19Gb), dual AMD cpu
